Chicago is ready to rally on Thursday, June 18th! The parade begins at 10am aka everyone is taking off work and will be throwing up by 1pm.
Oops.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel is promising a “world class” celebration of the Chicago Blackhawks’ Stanley Cup this year and we cannot wait!
“The City of Chicago is so proud of the Blackhawks, which is why we are going to throw them a celebration that only Chicago can throw – a celebration worthy of a hockey dynasty,” said Mayor Emanuel. #CHILLS
The official parade route will NOW begin at Washington and Racine Streets and will proceed east along Washington to DesPlaines, south on DesPlaines to Monroe, and east on Monroe to Michigan Avenue, where the parade will conclude it’s way to Soldier Field.
For those of you driving in, these are the closures you need to know about (which are in effect starting at 8 a.m.):
– Washington Street from Racine Street to DesPlaines Avenue
-DesPlaines Avenue to Monroe Street
– Monroe Street from Halsted Street to Lake Shore Drive
There will be NO drinking allowed on the streets and Soldier Field will not be selling alcohol. So drink at home and don’t disrespect the city of Chicago. The parade is a fun day for all of us.
The Metra will be offering a special one-day only $5 unlimited ride ticket for those heading downtown for the rally! In 2013, more than 425,000 took Metra trains the day of the Blackhawks rally. Woof. Too many people in one place at once.
PARTY ON, FRIENDS! And be safe (duh).
