Drink Up! Happy Hour Is Officially Legal In Illinois!

As if Chicago needed another reason to drink. It’s now legal to drink during “happy hour.”

The Illinois legislation was officially signed by Gov. Bruce Rauner stating that happy hour is legal — thank goodness.

Happy hour has been banned in Illinois since the late 1980s over concerns about excessive drinking and driving under the influence.

As far as we were concerned, it was OK to drink at any time of the day.

The legislation signed Wednesday, July 15th, prohibits “two drinks for the price of one.” Who was ever serving two drinks for the price of one and why haven’t we known about this? Also, happy hour deals could not be offered after 10 p.m.
