Oh my! Such sad news from Selena Gomez.
The beautiful star opened up in a new interview with Billboard and she revealed more than we could imagine.
When talking about her break in late 2013 and early 2014, it wasn’t because she was battling addiction – she was actually diagnosed with something more serious: Lupus.
“I was diagnosed with lupus, and I’ve been through chemotherapy,” she said. “That’s what my break was really about. I could’ve had a stroke,” the 23-year-old continued.
Because of the serious diagnosis, Gomez had to cancel the Asian and Australian stops of her Stars Dance tour to take some time for herself.
Now about those rumors…she wanted to badly to scream at the media.
“I wanted so badly to say, ‘You guys have no idea. I’m in chemotherapy. You’re assholes,’” she said. “I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again.”
Who was by her side during this tough time? None other than Taylor Swift.
“Taylor makes me feel empowered, like I can trust new people,” she told Billboard. “The way she cares about women is so adamant. It’s pulling me out of my shell.”
Wow, we’re so glad she’s feeling better.
